Jackie Dodson in studio 100 at The Galleries of Sunset Center in Amarillo, Texas bills herself as a “Whoopie” painter.
I am an acrylic painter and do bright colorful paintings that most people comment make them feel happy when they view them. An art critic once commented that when he saw my work it made him want to yell “whoopie”. Finding no other “whoopie” references on line I decided to bill myself as the world’s first and only WHOOPIE painter.
While I work primarily in acrylics I also do water colors. I love to draw with both charcoal and ink. My painting approach is a bit unorthodox in that I sometimes paint an entire painting without washing out my brush. I call it my “dirty brush” technique. My subject matter ranges from frogs, fish, flamingos and other critters , to landscapes, nudes, and still life. I only paint when I am happy myself and don’t mind if people come watch me while I do it. Prints and cards are available of my work.
